Basketball Recap: Sayre Takes a Loss

After flying high against Sullivan County last Monday, Sayre came back down to earth. The Sayre Redskins were outmatched by the Troy Trojans and fell 66-34. The Redskins have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Sayre's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Pellicano, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ressler, who posted eight points.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Troy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Sayre will venture away from home to face off against North Penn-Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Penn-Mansfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. As for Troy, they will be playing at home against Williamson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Troy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
