Recap: University City Centurions vs. Lincoln Hornets

The University City Centurions entered their tilt with the Lincoln Hornets with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. University City had just enough and edged Lincoln out 63-61. Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Lincoln is ranked 390th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dylan Griffin was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gavani, who scored 15 points along with four blocks.

University City pushed their record up to 20-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 10-18.

University City will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Canyon Crest Academy at 7:00 p.m. University City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Canyon Crest Academy likes a good challenge. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
