Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Highland

Highland had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Knight Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-3 back in March.

Paisley Memory made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Highland got a massive performance out of Aubrey Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave Reyes a new career-high. Evalina Chavez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Knight only posted a batting average of .333.

Highland's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Knight, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Highland will take on Eastside at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Knight, they will square off against Quartz Hill at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
