Softball Recap: Duxbury Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Duxbury hadn't done well against Hingham recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Dragons came out on top against the Harbormen by a score of 7-4. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Francesca ?Franky? Iovanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caleigh Ryan was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Emma Thibedeau, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Duxbury's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Hingham, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duxbury will square off against Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hingham, they will take on Notre Dame Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
