Basketball Game Preview: Central Academy Cougars vs. Monroe Redhawks

Central Academy is 0-10 against Monroe since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Central Academy Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Monroe Redhawks at 6:00 p.m.

Central Academy is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 41st straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They took a blow against Forest Hills, falling 54-23. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monroe, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They took down Parkwood 58-40 on Friday.

Monroe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Central Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Central Academy was taken down by Monroe 78-46 in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Monroe's Janiyah Boyd, who went 14 of 32 on her way to 35 points and seven steals.
