Softball Game Preview: Fillmore Eagles vs. Genesee Valley Jaguars

Fillmore is 2-8 against Genesee Valley since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will host the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Fillmore will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Fillmore had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Hinsdale Central on Thursday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 21-9 win. Considering the Eagles have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Genesee Valley finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bolivar-Richburg. The game marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Fillmore pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Genesee Valley, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4.
