Basketball Game Preview: Otay Ranch Mustangs vs. Christian Patriots

The Otay Ranch Mustangs will take on the Christian Patriots in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row dating back to last season, Otay Ranch finally turned things around against Santana on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 66-38 victory over the Sultans. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Johann Omae was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 19 on his way to 25 points and five steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dereck Beltran, who went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 86-53 win over Mt. Carmel. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

The victory got Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Otay Ranch, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
