Football Recap: Thompson Valley Beats Severance for Their Third Straight Win

Thompson Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Severance Silver Knights with a sharp 28-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Thompson Valley found their leader in sophomore Finley Lucas, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 234 yards while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. 98 of those passing yards were hauled in by Logan Belden.

Thompson Valley didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Severance to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Eagles weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Thompson Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Donovan Closz and Karter Christiansen.

Thompson Valley's record now sits at 5-1. As for Severance, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Thompson Valley will square off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Eagles will be up against the Mountain Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Severance, they will face off against Pomona at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Silver Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
