Basketball Game Preview: Richmond Raiders vs. Pinecrest Patriots

Richmond has gone 8-2 against Pinecrest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Richmond Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Pinecrest Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Richmond knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Pinecrest likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Richmond came up short against Scotland and fell 79-72. The Raiders were up 29-13 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Richmond might have lost, but man, Ahaiver McDonald was a machine: he went 12-for-17 to rack up 33 points. Those 33 points gave McDonald a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amer Morrison, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pinecrest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They took down Union Pines 71-57.

Pinecrest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Richmond beat Pinecrest 66-54 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Richmond repeat their success, or does Pinecrest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
