Basketball Game Preview: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Agua Fria Owls

The Deer Valley Skyhawks will face off against the Agua Fria Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Deer Valley lost 52-27 to Peoria on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Agua Fria entered their game against Estrella Foothills on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Agua Fria took a blow against Estrella Foothills, falling 67-37. The Owls were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.

Deer Valley will need focus on slowing down Yohoney Castanon, one of several Agua Fria players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Castanon has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Saleen Rios, who put up 14 points.

Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Agua Fria, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10.

Deer Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Agua Fria when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 56-43. Will Deer Valley repeat their success, or does Agua Fria have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
