Baseball Recap: Switzerland County Gets the Win

After losing to South Ripley the last time they met, Switzerland County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pacers walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Raiders on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Pacers have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 10, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Eli Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Switzerland County is 5-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 1-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Gross, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Switzerland County and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for South Ripley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Switzerland County is taking a road trip to take on North Decatur at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for South Ripley, they will welcome South Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
