Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeside). They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the Arabia Mountain Rams on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Kyle Davis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 269 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023. Canon Davis was Kyle's top target, picking up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lakeside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
When it comes to explaining why Arabia Mountain lost, don't look at Julian Shanks. Despite the final result, he threw for 184 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 85 yards on only five carries. Jordan Walker got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
