Volleyball Game Preview: East Central Hornets vs. George County Rebels

The East Central Hornets will venture away from home to face off against the George County Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Central challenged St. Martin in a bug-themed battle on Monday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

While East Central won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23, 25-11.

Meanwhile, George County hadn't done well against Gulfport recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rebels skirted past the Admirals 3-2.

George County had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 16-14.

East Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for George County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

East Central came up short against George County when the teams last played back in August of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
