Baseball Recap: Trenton's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Trenton can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Anderson Titans. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Titans on May 5th, they had to take a 1-0 defeat.

Ashton Rooney made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Rooney wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Demers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Demers a new career-high.

Trenton's victory bumped their record up to 22-9. As for Anderson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 23-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Trenton is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Anderson will take on rival Edsel Ford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.4, the Thunderbirds 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
