Basketball Recap: Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Comes Up Short

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted lost against Glencoe-Silver Lake back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers fell 74-65 to the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Panthers are ranked 63rd).

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Glencoe-Silver Lake, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Coincidentally, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and Glencoe-Silver Lake will both be playing Litchfield the next time they take the court. Glencoe-Silver Lake will host Litchfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted will host them at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
