Soccer Game Preview: Port Jefferson vs. Southampton

Port Jefferson is 0-7 against Southampton since October of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Royals will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Mariners at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Port Jefferson will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Greenport, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Royals' defense stepped up to hand the Porters a 6-0 shutout back in September. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Port Jefferson considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Southampton made easy work of Pierson on Friday and carried off a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Southampton, who have now won three matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

The victory got Port Jefferson back to even at 1-1. As for Southampton, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
