Recap: Chiefland Indians vs. Williston Red Devils
If the Chiefland Indians were riding high off their 61-38 takedown of the North Marion Colts last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chiefland was outmatched by Williston on the road and fell 72-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Chiefland has suffered since November 27, 2023.
Chiefland lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brianna Bell, who scored eight points along with four steals. Bell is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Laila Ingram, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Williston was led to victory by Kaelynn Brown and Delecia Dallas. Brown scored 11 points along with seven assists, while Dallas scored 15 points. Brown continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Solomon, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Chiefland has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Williston, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chiefland will take on Riverside Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Williston, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Newberry at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Newberry is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
