The Torres Toros are taking a road trip to take on the Fresno Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Torres will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Tuesday, Torres got the win against San Joaquin Memorial by a conclusive 24-8. The Toros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Layla Webster was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Mylah Avila was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was J'lynn Mitchell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Torres always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .878. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Fresno's offense. They came up short against Hoover on Tuesday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Torres pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Fresno, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Torres hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Fresno struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Torres skirted past Fresno 13-11 in their previous meeting on April 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Toros since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
