Basketball Game Preview: Canby Cougars vs. Tigard Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Canby Cougars face off against the Tigard Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Canby will be strutting in after a victory while Tigard will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Canby didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Glencoe, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Tigard came up short against Newberg on Friday and fell 47-39. While losing is never fun, Tigard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Newberg is ranked 98th).

Canby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Tigard, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Canby didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Tigard in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, but they still walked away with a 46-41 victory. Will Canby repeat their success, or does Tigard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
