Basketball Game Preview: Portland Panthers vs. Greenbrier Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Portland's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Greenbrier has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Portland is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since January 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past White House 50-48.

It was another big night for Keilen Dalton, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Calvert, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier came up short against Station Camp on Tuesday and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Bison are ranked 104th).

Portland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points over those games. As for Greenbrier, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
