Preview: Hug Hawks vs. Sage Ridge Scorpions
The Hug Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Sage Ridge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hug comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
On Saturday, Hug came up short against Dayton and fell 47-34. Hug has not had much luck with Dayton recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Karen Salgado put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 14 points. Precious Palaita was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Sage Ridge couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 40-28 to Truckee on Tuesday.
Hug bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Sage Ridge, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1.
