Softball Recap: Breese Central Find Success

Breese Central came out on top against Civic Memorial on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 6-4.

Lily Lappe spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Trame, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abie Huber, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Breese Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 3-1 when they post two or more home runs.

Breese Central's record is now 7-19. As for Civic Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Coincidentally, Breese Central and Civic Memorial will both be playing Marissa/Coulterville the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Meteors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Cougars will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
