Basketball Recap: Stratford Academy Drops Season-High Score on First Presbyterian Day

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stratford Academy). They breezed by the First Presbyterian Day Vikings to the tune of 81-31 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratford Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Frankie Raines Jr, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The game was Raines Jr's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Stephens, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Stratford Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Presbyterian Day only racked up nine assists.

Gavin Wilson and Jones Handberry certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Wilson posted six points and five boards, while Handberry scored nine points.

Stratford Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for First Presbyterian Day, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Stratford Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-38 win against Piedmont Academy on the 14th. As for First Presbyterian Day, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-30 defeat against John Milledge Academy on the 14th.
