Basketball Recap: East Comes Up Short

East suffered their closest defeat since January 12, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Northland Vikings by a score of 41-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-42 back in January.

Despite the loss, East still got an impressive performance from Kaliyah Barron, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 18 boards. Barron is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 32 games she's played dating back to last season. Y'Ianna Smith was another key player, putting up six points and 12 boards.

East dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Northland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.

East will square off against Briggs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
