Basketball Recap: Peotone Takes a Loss

Peotone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Reed-Custer Comets. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Peotone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emma Orzel posted ten points.

Leading Reed-Custer to victory were Morgan Toler and Alyssa Wollenzien. Toler had seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Wollenzien put up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlie Liebermann, who earned seven points and 11 rebounds.

Peotone's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Reed-Custer, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Peotone will be taking part in a tournament against Momence at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Reed-Custer, they will take on Bradley-Bourbonnais in a tournament on Thursday. Reed-Custer is facing Bradley-Bourbonnais at the right time seeing as Bradley-Bourbonnais is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
