Recap: Memorial Warriors vs. Denton Broncos
After flying high against the Independence Knights last Friday, The Memorial Warriors came back down to earth. Memorial took a 25-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denton. Memorial lost against Denton in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-35 score last time.
LaMarques Robinson was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 206 yards. Jacobi Gladney was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Memorial's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Pleasant Grove and 7-1 Forney (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.5% over those games). As for Denton, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Memorial will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Creekview at 7:00 p.m. Creekview is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Denton, they will head out on the road to face off against Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
