Basketball Recap: Crandon Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Crandon waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 55-43 win over the Wausau West Warriors. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Warriors are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Iris Waldvogel, who posted nine points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Waldvogel a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Colwell, who had eight points and four steals.

Crandon's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wausau West, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Crandon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-15 win against Elcho on the 12th. As for Wausau West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 82-32 victory against Merrill on the 10th.
