Basketball Recap: Egyptian Takes a Loss

Egyptian extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 40-20 to the Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, with their most recent loss being a 64-41 defeat two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Egyptian saw an underclassman step up: freshman VANESSA GREENLEY posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. GREENLEY has been hot for a while, having posted three or more blocks the last nine times she's played.

As for Joppa-Maple Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Abigail Lang was the offensive standout of the game as she earned seven points in addition to 12 boards and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high. Kali Short was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Egyptian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-16 win against Agape Christian on the 2nd. As for Joppa-Maple Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-29 loss against Cobden on the 2nd.
