Archbishop Spalding is a perfect 10-0 against Mount de Sales Academy since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cavaliers will venture away from home to face off against the Sailors at 4:00 p.m. Mount de Sales Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Archbishop Spalding, who comes in off a win.

Archbishop Spalding is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: John Carroll, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Archbishop Spalding was ranked 17th). The Cavaliers had just enough and edged out the Patriots 1-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 5, 2022, but that streak is no more.

The result came thanks to Cessi Prince's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Archbishop Spalding saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryanne Clark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Clark's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Mount de Sales Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 12-7 to Catonsville.

Olivia Berger and Quinn Hastings did some serious damage despite the final result: Berger scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Hastings went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Olivia Ross, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Archbishop Spalding's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Archbishop Spalding came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount de Sales Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
