Baseball Game Preview: Masconomet Regional Chieftains vs. Beverly Panthers

Masconomet Regional is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home field against the Beverly Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Masconomet Regional came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-6 to Saugus.

Christopher Porfido made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cal Weidman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Beverly came up short against Danvers on Thursday, falling 7-1. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Callan McCay was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Beverly's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Masconomet Regional, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
