The Fremont Silverwolves will challenge the Layton Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Fremont is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Syracuse just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-2.

Fremont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Grieve, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Layton won against Farmington on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lancers beat the Phoenix by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Austin Pritchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Layton is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Zane Morgan was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Will Hoffman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Layton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Layton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Layton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fremont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Layton, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Fremont's hitters?

Fremont beat Layton 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Silverwolves repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
