Softball Recap: De Kalb's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

De Kalb had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Sam Rayburn on Saturday. The De Kalb Bears were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Sam Rayburn Rebels. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Zoey Farris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylin Corbett, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

De Kalb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for De Kalb, bringing their record for this year to 13-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Kalb will host Liberty-Eylau at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty-Eylau has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.4 runs per game on average), something De Kalb will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sam Rayburn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitewright at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
