Baseball Recap: St. Francis Takes Down Homestead in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Francis had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Homestead Mustangs, sneaking past 1-0. That's two games straight that the Sharks have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Evan Dyer's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Francis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Borrego, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Francis now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.

Coming up, St. Francis will square off against Santa Clara on Friday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Sharks surely won't give up without a fight. Homestead does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
