Baseball Game Preview: Serrano Diamondbacks vs. Apple Valley Sun Devils

For the second straight game, Serrano will face off against Apple Valley. The Diamondbacks will venture away from home to challenge the Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Serrano is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Apple Valley hit Serrano with a seven-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Diamondbacks fell 9-5 to the Sun Devils.

For Apple Valley's part, Benji Avila looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Avila a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Travis Yoda, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Tyler Redona was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Apple Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
