Softball Recap: Stephenville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Stephenville and Springtown squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Stephenville had to settle for second. They fell 12-9 to the Porcupines. The Yellow Jackets/Honeybees were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Porcupines earlier this season, when they won 9-4.

Presley Gaitan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Haggard, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Stephenville's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-14-1. As for Springtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 21 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

While Stephenville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
