Football Game Preview: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Marvin Ridge Mavericks + How To Watch

Cuthbertson hasn't had much luck against Marvin Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cavaliers will challenge the Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Cuthbertson lost to Charlotte Catholic at home by a 28-14 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Cougars are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge came up short against Sun Valley on Friday, falling 30-7. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Cuthbertson will have to contain Alex Voss as he made an impact in Marvin Ridge's last game. He picked up 144 receiving yards and one TD. Voss was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 68 yards.

While Marvin Ridge came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Sun Valley: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 45.5%. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for the Mavericks; they were averaging 59.6%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 59.6%.

Marvin Ridge now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cuthbertson, their record is now 3-6.

Cuthbertson won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, slipping by Marvin Ridge 7-6. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
