Basketball Game Preview: Stockdale Mustangs vs. Liberty Patriots

The Stockdale Mustangs will head out to take on the Liberty Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stockdale is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Stockdale came up short against Centennial and fell 53-40. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 707th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 285th).

Meanwhile, Liberty also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Garces Memorial by a score of 54-43. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Stockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Stockdale was taken down by Liberty 77-47 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stockdale was down 49-17.
