Liberty was sadly handed a defeat on Monday, but Cody Smith did his best to prevent it. Smith pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The performance also marked the most strikeouts (two) he has had since back in April of 2024.

Even though Smith couldn't lead Liberty over Arlington, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
