Softball Game Preview: Ryle Raiders vs. Campbell County Camels

The Ryle Raiders will head out to take on the Campbell County Camels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Ryle's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Dixie Heights as Ryle made off with a 16-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Laci DeLauder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. DeLauder was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiley Patterson, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Leah Broussard was another key player, scoring four runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Campbell County got the win against Boone County on Thursday by a conclusive 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Camels, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Josie Feebeck and Faith Whitford did most of the damage at the plate: Feebeck scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Whitford went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Perry, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Ryle's record is now 2-0-1. As for Campbell County, their record now sits at 5-1.

Ryle came up short against Campbell County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can Ryle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
