Football Game Preview: Clarke Rams vs. Wantagh Warriors

The Clarke Rams will head out to take on the Wantagh Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wantagh took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Clarke, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Clarke blew past Division, posting a 40-6 victory. Considering the Rams have won three matchups by more than 29 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Clarke didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off 101 passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Wilmer Dubon and Matthew Kurz.

Meanwhile, Wantagh came up short against Floral Park Memorial on Saturday and fell 21-14. While the Warriors had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Knights 7-0.

Despite the defeat, Wantagh saw an underclassman step up: freshman Luke Martini rushed for 151 yards while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Martini's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 151 rushing yards.

The win made it two in a row for Clarke and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Wantagh, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Clarke came out on top in a nail-biter against Wantagh when the teams last played back in October, sneaking past 36-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
