Basketball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Marcos de Niza Padres 73-46. The Cardinals have struggled against the Padres recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Glendale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Victor Rodriguez, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael Palomino, who earned 12 points and seven rebounds.

Marcos de Niza's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Steward, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Steward's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Mcgee, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Glendale now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Marcos de Niza, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Glendale won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cortez knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Glendale likes a good challenge. As for Marcos de Niza, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walden Grove at 5:15 p.m. on December 27th.
