Baseball Recap: Metea Valley Starts off Right with Win over Elgin

Metea Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Elgin Maroons on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Connor Lavery was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Gluting, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metea Valley will take on Joliet Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elgin, they will challenge Zion-Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
