Basketball Preview: Caldwell Hornets vs. Giddings Buffaloes
The Caldwell Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Giddings Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caldwell will be strutting in after a victory while the Buffaloes will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Caldwell has not done well against the Ducks recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Caldwell made off with a 66-65 victory over the Ducks. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Giddings was the victim of a tough 46-25 loss at the hands of the Leopards on Friday. Giddings has struggled against the Leopards recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Caldwell's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-16. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Giddings, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-19.
Everything went Caldwell's way against the Buffaloes when the teams last played back in January as the Hornets made off with a 55-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Caldwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
