West Mesquite's game on Tuesday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They slipped by the Emerson Mavericks 46-45. The Wranglers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mavericks, too.

Emerson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elijah York, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Camden Schulte, who posted 11 points.

West Mesquite has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Emerson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, West Mesquite will square off against North Forney at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Emerson, they will be taking part in a tournament against Walnut Grove on Thursday.
