Baseball Recap: Pahrump Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Pahrump Valley and Moapa Valley squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Pahrump Valley had to settle for second. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this matchup were averaging 3.71 runs allowed.

Aidyn Cratty made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Andrew Zurn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Pahrump Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-10-1. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Moapa Valley, Boulder City, and Boulder City. As for the Pirates, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Pahrump Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-1 victory against Canyon Springs on the 7th. As for Moapa Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-0 loss against Boulder City on the 7th.
