Basketball Game Preview: Washington Huskies vs. American Eagles

Two dominant guards in Gianni Clark and Dylan JaWei Lee are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Washington Huskies will welcome the American Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches.

Last Thursday, Washington lost to Moreau Catholic at home by a 83-65 margin. The Huskies have struggled against the Mariners recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Washington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Esean Johnson, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 24 points, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark, who posted 20 points.

Meanwhile, American was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission San Jose. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 747th, while the Warriors are ranked 352nd).

American's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Washington strolled past American in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 64-45. Will Washington repeat their success, or does American have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
