Softball Game Preview: Toll Gate Titans vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

The Toll Gate Titans will head out to take on the Mt. Hope Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Toll Gate is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Westerly, who was ranked sixth at the time (Toll Gate was ranked 17th). The Titans came up short against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Titans have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 18-0 to Burrillville. The game marked the first time this year in which the Huskies were not able to get on the board.

Mt. Hope's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Toll Gate, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Toll Gate skirted past Mt. Hope 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
