Recap: Gruver Greyhounds vs. Sunray Bobcats
The Gruver Greyhounds had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Sunray 42-41. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Briggs Satterfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 356 yards and four touchdowns. Gruver also got help from Michael Mccloy who showed off his sure hands for 209 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Sunray still got an impressive performance from Armando Lujan, who rushed for 192 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
Gruver is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Sunray, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gruver will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Boys Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd. After both having extra time off, Sunray and Vega will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Vega is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
