Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Roane County

Roane County waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sweetwater Wildcats a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Yellowjackets have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sailor Presley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Rhyan Henslee was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Ava Hamilton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Roane County pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Sweetwater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-5.

As of now, neither Roane County nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
