Volleyball Recap: Mcfarland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

McFarland and Sauk Prairie squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but McFarland had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, McFarland had strong showings from Callie Spanos, who had four digs and three aces, and Talia Riemen, who had nine digs and one assist. Spanos is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Sauk Prairie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mackenna Murphy led the charge by getting 22 digs and two assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Allen, who had 14 assists and eight digs.

McFarland now has a losing record of 20-21. As for Sauk Prairie, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 27-5.

McFarland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sauk Prairie, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Edgewood at 7:00 p.m.
